Without question this is one of the most unique weddings, if not THE most unique wedding we’ve ever filmed.  Mindy and David were married at The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado.  The Stanley is full of history and is probably best known as the place that inspired Steven King to write “The Shining” and it was the perfect setting for Mindy and David’s wedding.  This was truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen and I couldn’t have asked for a cooler couple.  WOW so much attention to detail to create such a stunning event.  From the Jack Nicholson impersonator to the fortune teller and the remarkable room design by Design Works, this was definitely an event I won’t soon forget and I’m incredibly honored to have filmed it.  Many, many thanks to Mike Novelli of Rising Moon Video for spending the day with Josh and I and lending his incredible talents.  Please enjoy Mindy and David’s Coming Attraction!

An awesome couple, a beautiful day and a stunning backdrop-who could ask for more?!  Tracy and Shanaka were married at Drees Pavilion with the city of Cincinnati to their backs.  It was a gorgeous wedding filled with friends, family, and tradition.   They shared tea with their parents as part of a Tea Ceremony, then exchanged vows on a cloudless August evening.  Then the party started as they danced the night away.  We had a great time spending the day with them, they really gave us so much to work with and I was so excited when they decided to do a Same Day Edit which played at their reception during dinner.  Their guests really enjoyed it and I wanted to share it with you as well.  Enjoy.

WOW! What a party! I knew going into the day that it was going to be a great one, but it was even more than I could’ve imagined. Lauren and Seth were married this past Sunday at Adath Israel and when the ceremony was over, the back wall was moved to reveal a STUNNING reception. They truly wanted to create an experience and it was one I won’t soon forget. Party on the Moon was the band and I can honestly say I’ve never seen a band rock a wedding like they did. The energy in the room was enough to power a small village and they kept everyone on the floor until their last song. Lauren and Seth wanted to surprise their guests with a Same Day Edit which is a short film of their wedding day from the preparations on to the reception and is shown on a big screen during dinner. Its an amazing experience for everyone. Their guests really enjoyed it and I wanted to share it with you. Enjoy!

When early April weather can be more than a little wet in Cincinnati, Rebeccca and Daniel couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. The energy in the suite as Rebecca and her bridesmaids were getting ready was so incredibly contagious, I could tell then that we were going to have an electrifying day. There were so many beautiful moments made up their day; the incredible toasts, Daniel’s reaction as Rebecca walks down the aisle, and of course the interaction between them. Rebecca and Daniel, I wish you the best as you begin your new life in Denver and I hope you enjoy these Highlights from your wedding film!

If Nicole and Andres’ wedding had a recipe, I’m sure it looked something like this- mix equal parts of energy, class, style, and family until blended smooth.  I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced a wedding quite like this and the only word that comes to mind is ‘epic’.   I knew when I met Nicole and her mother and sister that this was going to be something different that anything I had experienced before, and my senses didn’t let me down.  So many unique, personal, and even hand made details went into this event that was shared by 220 of their closest friends and family, many of whom came from out of town to witness this celebration.  Nicole and Andres had just moved here and wanted to give their guests something special at the reception that went beyond a Same Day Edit, so we created a piece that would give a little backstory to them and even spotlight some events of the week leading up to the wedding.   Many thanks to my friends at Northernlight Filmworks for driving in to help with this one!  I hope you enjoy Nicole and Andres Enhanced Same Day Edit which played during dinner at their reception this past Saturday.

Stephanie and Adam had an wedding that was beyond amazing. Despite the forecast, the rain held off long enough for them to enjoy their day with their closest friends and family. From custom jewelry Stephanie had created for each bridesmaid to the special song Adam surprised Stephanie with as their ceremony began, this was indeed their day and it was filled with so many special moments and individual touches. My friends John and Jen Moon of Northernlight Filmworks drove in from Indianapolis to help me with this wedding, and I had the awesome opportunity to work with Steph Carson again. Stephanie and Adam wanted to surprise their guests with a Same Day Edit, which is a short film of their wedding presented that evening during dinner. Its such an amazing experience and their guests truly loved it and I wanted to share it with you.

I remember meeting Megan and Jeff several months ago to talk about their wedding at the Hall of Mirrors and bringing up the Same Day Edit and at the time, they weren’t sure it was something they wanted to do. I’m SO glad they changed their minds and from their emails, they’re equally glad! This is what Megan wrote in an email after the wedding, “Everyone was freaking out and telling me it was like an episode trailer for “The Hills” on MTV. You and Josh did such an amazing job. You are so talented and basically made the wedding night with the same day edit. Do you remember when we were considering not having it? I’m so glad we did!” As if that wasn’t sweet enough, Jeff sends this email, “I know Megan already thanked you but I wanted to personally let you know how much I appreciated everything you did for us this past weekend. The “Same Day Edit” blew my mind and was a very special moment for me at our wedding. You are a true artist when it comes to your work and I can tell you truly love what you do. The “SDE” was the talk of the party…” Emails like that make a bad day good and a good day even better!  I wanted to try something different here and really focus on the vows they had personally written to each other. It would be difficult to ask for a better day.  From the preparations at her uncle’s beautiful home to the reception at The Phoenix that evening, everything was under a stunning sky.   The weather was perfect, the leaves had just started to change, I swear Kristin and Mark have connections somewhere to get a day like that!  It was definitely a unique day too.  Kristin and Mark didn’t want to see each other before the ceremony, but were having their pre ceremony photos taken at the same time, in the same place, her uncle’s home.  They even wanted to ride to the ceremony together, but still didn’t want to see each other first.  I suggested they wear blindfolds and even sit next to each other in the limo bus.   They loved it and even added to it by bringing along some heart shaped glasses to wear on top of the blindfolds, just to be sure.   They had a blast with it all, and even though they sat next to each other on the bus, holding hands, they still never saw each other until she walked down the aisle!    The very talented Steve Lyons was there as well capturing each moment and was incredible to work with.  It was a perfect day for the start of their lives together.   I hope you enjoy their Coming Attraction Trailer!

In a week of pouring rain, Erin and Adam somehow had one of the most beautiful days for a wedding.  This storybook wedding started in Hyde Park and wrapped up at the Taft Museum of Art where Erin and Adam’s closest friends and family members celebrated their new beginning.  Erin was so much fun!  She even asked where my Chucks were, hoping I’d wear them that day.  As if that wasn’t cool enough, she even was thinking of the sweet dress shot before I even arrived!  I knew then, this was going to be an incredible event.  I had the pleasure of working with the amazing Robert White for the first time and I’m certainly looking forward to the next time.  Erin and her bridesmaids couldn’t have looked better thanks to the artistic talents of Nancy at Brideface and the incomparable Jen Nally.  The always awesome DJ Toad made sure all the chairs were empty and the dance floor packed as their guests danced long into the night.  This is just a preview of their film and I hope you enjoy it!

Every month I look forward to my issue of EventDV, a monthly magazine that is read by thousands of wedding filmmakers all over the world. Each issue is loaded with filmmaker goodies, lots of info on various products, and features on studios around the world that are standing out. Imagine how excited I was when the editor in chief calls me for an hour long interview to be featured in this very magazine! This was all part of Daphne and Jason’s Surprise Wedding Concept Film. It was an amazing opportunity to share the process of creating this film as well as my own creative evolution leading up to it. You can read the article here. I also created a Behind the Scenes episode that you can also watch on that page.   I narrate the piece like a directors cut and talk about what went into producing it and how various looks were created.   This amazing production was created with an amazing team including photo maestro Cindy Wagner and Mr. Josh Emerson, Cinematographer extraordinaire.  Needless to say this was a HUGE honor to be featured in the very magazine I run, don’t walk to the mailbox every month for, and to open it up to a four page spread of one of my films is completely indescribable.
