I can’t even begin to believe that its been a year since we brought our little girl into this world. Seems just like yesterday we were driving to the hospital in total excitement, anxious to give Mya a baby sister. Sadie Evelyn Zugelter came into our lives on June 3, 2009 at 9:28am, she not only came into our lives, she completely changed them. Its amazing to be able to experience all the new discoveries with her like we did with Mya, but also watch as she takes on her own personality that is completely different from her big sister. Mya is an awesome big sister too, well, most of the time. She is kind and gentle and loves to share her ice cream or lollipop, but then there are the times when Mya plays the big sister card and tries to take a toy from her. Sadie isn’t a push over though, she’ll grab a handful of Mya’s hair if she feels the urge, and then laugh as if she’s just gotten even. She also loves to fake us out. She’ll hold a toy out for us to grab and just as we’re about to get it, she whips her hand back and giggles and does it again and again. She’s so very close to walking on her own and I can’t wait for the days when she and Mya chase Guinness around the house or run around in the backyard. Yeah, maybe I do live a little vicariously through them in an attempt to have a second childhood, but there is no question that I’m truly a blessed man. Sadie just turned one year old and I created a short look back on her first year. Many thanks to my friends Steph Carson who created such an amazing maternity session. Nancy of Brideface who was there to make by beautiful wife even more stunning, and Kortnee Kate for the awesome birth, family & cake sessions. I really hope you enjoy this look back which was created with their amazing photos and super 8mm film.

I couldn’t ask for a better wedding to start the year. Amy and DJ joined hands and lives in front of their closest friends and family members at the Cincinnati Art Museum on a chilly March day. I had the pleasure of working with DJ on a few projects over the last few years and I was really excited when he called me to film his wedding. This was a very intimate ceremony where DJ’s father was also the minister and symbolic butterflies adorned the ceremony and reception. This was more than a wedding, it was a family union and I’m very honored to have been a part of it and to share the day with my friends Kortnee and Ted of Kortnee Kate Photography. I hope you enjoy their highlight film, the soundtrack was their first dance song, but I chose to use a cover of the same song.

Who doesn’t love a pumpkin patch?? And what could be better than spending a day in a patch with two of your best friends who just so happen to be two of the raddest photographers under the sun??!?! Well, the answer is clearly NOTHING!
A few weeks ago Reagan and I took Sadie and Mya to meet Kortnee and Ted and their son Micah at Berries & Blooms in Loveland for some pumpkin patch fun, with an extra added ingredient, mud. The days prior, it had rained and rained some more. Of course rain + farm = mess, but we had a blast with it all! The kids loved it, with the exception of Sadie, who wasn’t sure what was going on and why she was being placed in crate full of these cold orange objects (pumpkins) while some woman (kortnee) stood in front of her with this thing (her camera) while she made cute baby sounds. While this is going on, Ted and I are constantly refreshing the web on our phones to get the latest score of the Vikings/Packers game. The mud certainly made things interesting and its amazing how kids are magnets for that stuff. No matter how hard we tried, we simply couldn’t keep them clean!
Carmel Apples, a hay ride, picking your own pumpkin out of a patch with your family and friends, this was good day indeed. We truly love Kortnee and Ted and Micah too (as long as he quits hitting on Mya) :)
I wanted to share with you some of the awesome pics that Kortnee took that day. Here’s the link to her blog with more of goodness that was captured that day Enjoy!

You simply could not have picked a better day for a wedding. Not only was the weather perfect, EVERYTHING was perfect. Shannon and John joined their lives in front of their closest friends and family and I’m incredibly honored to have been a part of it and to share their story with everyone. The energy was absolutely incredible and from getting to know them over the last couple of months I could really feel it escalate as their wedding got closer. Shannon and her bridesmaids were so awesome during preparations that morning, and John and his groomsmen were having the time of their lives starting with lunch at Behle Street Cafe, good good times! Dawn Dagenbach and her incredible team made the day flow with ease, and my rockstar photography friends Kortnee + Ted, were amazing to work with as always! After the ceremony the party kicked off at Cincinnati’s Union Terminal, which was absolutely stunning, the perfect location for a celebration. I was so excited when Shannon + John chose a Same Day Edit, they are always so much fun to produce and the reaction from the guests is always one of disbelief. They can’t believe they’re watching a highlight from that very day. They are taken on a journey and are able to see the preparations, the photo shoot, the ceremony and even parts of the reception that just happened a couple hours or minutes ago. This was no exception. Their guests loved it and I really hope you do too!

I cannot begin to tell you what a monumental moment this is for me. Reagan and I began thinking of changing the name a couple years ago, but could never settle on anything that really hit us. Looking back we had some really ridiculous ideas that at the time, seemed like good ones. Once we had a name we loved we began working with one of the best designers in town to create a logo and design this site. More on her later.
There are a couple reasons as to why the name change, but the main reason is it was time to leave ‘video’ behind as our work has progressed over the last couple of years to more film like in nature. We’re also have been incorporating newer tools and techniques to achieve a much fresher approach to wedding films.
Yeah, I’m going to miss Glass Eye Video, it is after all the beginning of where the studio is today, but I’m really looking forward to the future of Studio+Z Films. We have some incredible new features coming up and some exciting new films to share in the upcoming weeks.
There are a few people I really need to thank for helping me with this massive transformation. My super friends Kortnee and Ted of Kortnee Kate Photography for taking some really amazing promo shots of me. We had a blast that day playing in an abandoned house and I couldn’t be happier with the pictures!
HUGE thanks to Stephanie of Steph Carson Photography and Tine Hofmann of TM Photography for the pictures that you see on the site.
Finally, the biggest thanks to the one that had to deal with my endless questions and changes, the one that made this all possible….ladies and gentlemen, Ms. Renee Rist of Ribbons of Red. I had a vision and she ran with it. From the various logo concepts, to the minor tweaks to perfect the new one, she built this awesome custom site and blog that really blows me away.
There it is, my first post under my new name. I really appreciate you taking the time to check it out. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!
