Mya’s 1st Trip to Disney

Last week was without a doubt one of the greatest weeks of my life. It was a week filled with nonstop laughter and smiles and discovery and wonder from Mya. We flew down to Orlando for a week and truly packed every minute of every day full of fun. We were even joined by Reagan’s parents, who hibernate to Ft. Myers every winter. They made the drive up and spent part of this incredible week with us, it was absolutely amazing. We of course did Disney, but we also wanted to do a few other things as well. We found a really sweet petting zoo where Mya had her first interaction with many of the animals in her books, she got to feed quite a few too and even ride a pony! At Disney, she wanted to ride Dumbo again and again and again. We would get off and she would say, ‘Dayee, fly’, how am I supposed to say no when she’s being so incredibly cute? She loved the safari in Animal Kingdom and would call out to the animals she recognized. It was and AWESOME week that I will never forget, unfortunately, she’ll probably never remember, but we took an insane amount of pictures and I wanted to share a few of my favs with you.

We found a smaller park filled with smaller rides and she LOVED this slide as you can see.

Mya

Just as Mya reaches the toddler years, Reagan and I find out we’re expecting our second child in June 2009! What an incredible blessing this is! Mya has been so much fun to watch over the last eighteen and a half months, the discoveries, the new abilities, growing out of clothes and into new ones, its been an amazing time of my life. To think I get to experience this all over again is too good to be true and we’re so excited for the new addition to our family and to watch Mya’s interaction with the little one, I want it to start right now! I’ll certainly keep you updated as things progress, but for now, I’ll leave you with an update on what Mya’s been up to lately!

Talk, talk, talk, she LOVES to talk, and I honestly cannot believe the things she’s picked up on. She knows her colors, does fairly well with her ABCs, considering her age, and is also blowing me away with her counting. She loves to order Reagan and I around. She recently got the Clipo Activity Table (a must for any child her age!), anyway, she loves to sit down, pull the table over her legs and yell, ‘Mama! Dada! PAY’ (play)! Sometimes Reagan and I won’t go to her right away just so we can hear her say it again, its so darn cute! She’s very bossy with the television and let us know she wants to watch Noddy or Caillou, thankfully we have a library on DVR! She also says Guinness’ name, sorta. We call him Guinney and she has turned that into GEEE. She’s quite the artist now, thanks to the Crayola bathtub crayons, (another must for any child her age), its a great way for her to enjoy bath time even more and its a lot of fun to watch her doodle, on the shower walls, the floor and herself! The picture above was taken in October by our good friend Nicole C, she shot our wedding and has been a friend ever since! Stay tuned for more updates!

The Greatest Thank You

Antique Projector

So I open my front door on Monday to an unexpected package from UPS, the return address is the parents of the bride I had the pleasure of filming a couple weeks ago. Inside the box, was without a doubt the greatest ‘thank you’ I’ve ever received, its an antique movie projector, complete with movies and its fully operational! Crazy eh?! The movies that came with it were in their original boxes that had yellowed, dried out scotch tape holding them together. I couldn’t believe my eyes! Along with this amazing gift was an INCREDIBLE letter thanking me for doing such a great job with the Same Day Edit and for being such a pleasure to work with! A simple ‘thank you’ is always good to hear, but for Treva and Dan to take the time to find this and think of me, really means so much! I can’t wait to move into my new studio in November and this will certainly have a home there, next to the framed letter that came along with it!

Father’s Day

So yesterday being Father’s Day I thought I’d get you up to speed with what Mya is doing. After all, she is the one that makes it possible for me to celebrate this holiday! She’s just over 13 months now! New words are finding their way into her vocabulary, she is now taking more and more steps by herself, and she’s now a certified daddy’s girl. I’m not exactly sure what that means, but she is definitely a daddy’s girl. Maybe she really means it when she looks up at me with her arms outstretched and lets out a little cry or maybe she’s far more advanced and she’s workin’ ol’ dad over in hopes for that new car when she turns 16. I guess I’ll never know the answer to that one, but I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride! She’s experiencing new firsts every single day and testing the boundaries of her independence. No longer does she want to be fed, no no! She’s insisting on feeding herself whether its a peach, a banana, a pancake or even yesterday’s snow cone. Forget the Gerber stages, she’s moved on to the real deal! So anyway I thought I’d share a few pictures with you, including this first one which probably is my favorite. This one goes back to the beginning and was taken at the hospital just two days after she was born!

To say this has been the best year of my life would be the greatest understatement ever said. Daddy’s little girl is growing up FAST! She’s a year old now, ok, her official birthday isn’t until tomorrow, but we celebrated it this past Saturday surrounded by friends and family. In this past year, she’s grown by leaps and bounds and has never ceased to amaze me along the way. Reagan and I watched her crawl, get her first teeth, say her first words, climb up on things, stand on her own, chase after Guinness, wave bye-bye, splash water in the tub, climb the stairs, take her first steps and fill the room with her infectious laugh. I honestly never knew I could ever love someone as much as I love her and it’s such a blessing to watch her grow and take on her own personality. I AM the luckiest man on earth. I’m a big softy too. I well up with tears quite often when I see her doing something new. I know these are the moments I’ll look back on years from now and smile, and laugh, and yeah, I’ll probably even cry too. I put a little video together of her first year and shamefully I couldn’t devote as much time as I wanted to on it, but I’m still very happy with it. Even this was hard for me to create. I couldn’t stop crying as I’m editing it. Looking back at all the footage of her as a newborn and those special little moments that Reagan and I will never forget. We showed this at her party and everyone loved it and I wanted to share it with you. Please enjoy!
